At Aesthetic Laundry, we've always strived to be creative and resourceful when it comes to waste. Because we make all our garments to order, we naturally produce offcuts and we couldn't bare to waste them...
...so! We began gathering an absolute rainbow of offcuts, mulling over how to make the most of the fabrics. In much the same way that our garments will never be one size fits all, the size of our offcuts really vary.
After reaching out to our fabulous customers for their thoughts we decided to go ahead with.....
Kidswear!
We loved this idea, and not just because the teeny tiny little garments are incredibly cute. When it comes to fast fashion, Kidswear is the fastest; children grow so fast, which makes their garments one of the largest throw away items in the fashion industry. Therefore to be able to add a zero waste offering to the kidswear is a great solution to this problem.
Using three size patterns (0-3 months, 9-12 months and 24-36 months) gave us the flexibility to maximise our use of off cuts. Whether we have a lot or a little, we can work with the materials we have to hand for minimal waste.
That's really what our Kidswear garments are about. Though we don't make kid's garments to order, we're committed to sustainability and low waste.
We've grown so much since then! There's so much more we can do, so we're introducing even more zero waste products right here on AL impact. Alongside our AL Academy garments, we're building on our commitment to sustainable and conscious fashion...I hope you're as excited as we are!
